1.What is the best way of making money for a young artist? How did you manage to make money in your newbie days?
I was on the streets all the time, singing and playing on my bass guitar. It must have sounded horrid because this was way before I knew anything about singing (or playing), and not very surprisingly it didn’t earn me much money. It did make me more experienced in performing though. But next to the (crappy) dayjob that I had, it was my only source of income.
2.What was your first job as a young artist? Were you happy doing that job?
I worked as a cleaner for a week or something until I was fired for no reason whatsoever. I wasn’t very heartbroken over it though; I hated that job. After that, I worked as a clerk for a while, which made me happier. And from there on I got my CEO job with Ricky Ardill’s Heaven studio’s that I still have.
3.Do you have a company? If not, are you planning to start one?
No, I’m busy enough with my current career and job. I have some shares in other companies though, kind of bought myself in.
4.How did you decide about the genre of your band? Have you ever considered changing your genre?
*grins* I had my own band for a few days that I uninspiredly called Lianne Rose – but the idea for that was a rockband as well.
Of course then Forest and Walter asked me if I was up for starting a band together, and then the 10 dB’s were born. As a genre, I’m very happy with MR.
Maybe I’ll skill up Metal one day… but for now I’m very comfortable with MR. The (dutch) MR community is awesome.
5.When your band made money for the first time, how did you spend it? What is the most profitable way of investing the band’s money?
We never potted up any money, but always distributed the money that wasn’t spent on jamplaces and the like to the members so we could buy books, plane tickets, and afford stays in hotels. Later the money went to tourbuses and plastic surgery
